Some of my favorite blog posts to read are "monthly favorites" or "What I Love Right Now" type posts. It's a great opportunity to discover new products with the added bonus that each item comes highly recommended from your favorite beauty/fashion bloggers. The concept is pretty self-explanatory. You put together a compilation of all of the products, clothes, accessories, etc. that are currently getting some serious love from you. A brief explanation for why you chose each product is optional, but I appreciate when the blogger provides the reasoning behind their picks. Anyway, let's get to it!
1) Tarte EmphasEYES Aqua-Gel Eyeliner - This is the only eyeliner (besides the MAC Fluidlines) that stays put on my eyelids all day. It also feels nice going on. It never tugs, and there is a slight cooling effect. I own the charcoal shade, which provides definition without being too harsh. (Sephora/Ulta $18)
2) L'Occitane en Provence Shea Butter Hand Cream - I love how soft this hand cream makes my hands. I personally enjoy the baby powder scent, but if that's not your cup of tea, there are other scents available. The 1oz tube retails for $10, and the 5.2 oz tube sells for $26. (L'Occitane stores/Sephora)
3) The Body Shop Olive Body Butter - This is more of an all-time favorite for me. I will never be without it. It provides the perfect amount of moisture right now in the winter, but is light enough for the summer. If you're worried about the scent, rest assured that you will not smell like olives. It has a fresh, green, leafy scent. (The Body Shop $18)
4) Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protective Spray - This is a fantastic beauty bargain. It retails for about $4.00 and is sold at drugstores/discount stores. If you haven't already noticed, I'm not very good at describing scents, but it has sort of a fruity apple-like scent. Sometimes I won't even use this with heat products. I'll get out of the shower, spray a little on my hair and let it air-dry. The result? Healthy, shiny, happy hair. Love.
5) Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo - I use the conditioner in the same line as well. It has a mild scent that won't conflict with your other styling products, and provides serious moisture like the name entails. Be careful if you have fine hair though, this may weigh your hair down. (drugstore.com $11.95)
6) Essie Nail Polish in Topless and Barefoot - Best. Nude. Polish. Ever. The. End. (Ulta/Walgreens $8)
7) MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Thing - Even though I'm naturally tan, I too can look a bit washed out in the winter time. This puts the glow right back into my face. The MAC website describes this color as a "dirty burgundy with gold pearl". I would say that's about right. Word to the wise: This shade is VERY pigmented, so make sure to use a light hand when applying. I find that the MAC 187 brush works well with this product. (maccosmetics.com $22)
Alright! That's it for me. What are your current beauty faves?
